Creating a Space for Boater Services

Written by

As you can see, we have an unseemly amount of bricks and rubble to remove from the site we wish to use for boat services. We are using as much of it as we can to back-fill the moorings to stop any further erosion of the banks.

Green House build

Written by

We started on the clearing the green house area in March. As with every part of this site Buddleia removal is the first job. Its chopping hacking shredding, burning and then stump removal. It's hard work and we can hear the screams but buddleia is the butterfly plant. Buddleia is an invasive species that takes over everything and destroys diversity.

Sweet Summer Sunshine......Or Rain Maybe

Written by

So summer is here and so far its been a good summer here at Urban Moorings.

We received the tenancy for the boathouse buildings and associated land from Wolverhampton Council. Despite what some may say about councils, the people we have dealt with at Wolverhampton Council have been very supportive and helpful.

Salad Pallet

Written by

Good use being made of an old pallet and some of the bags we get our wood in (off cuts courtesy of Harris Moore Fine Art Framers). Our Salad Bar. Back of pallet covered with bags and whole thing placed on top of the compost bin sides. Should work well.

We had a visitor in the arm. Just managed to get a picture.  Kingfishers are small unmistakable bright blue and orange birds of slow moving or still water.

BCN Cleanup 2018

Written by

Thanks to the big BCN clean up who paid us a visit today and took a load of scrap/rubbish. Every year the IWA, WRG and BCN society organise workboats and invite volunteers to help them remove rubbish from the canal.

Donate to The Project

Anything you can donate towards the project would be gratefully received. We can use the money to buy seed for the garden, food for the wildlife, cups of tea for volunteers, and materials to restore the historic buildings.
